We should note at the onset what a difference a month can make.
July was wild! History was made, and guess what? We all had a front row seat! Pretty cool!
Suffice it to say, for a large part of the nation, there is fresh cause for optimism. For the others, well, they continue to show a remarkable willingness to overlook the apparent danger their candidate is to our democracy.
On August 19th, the 2024 Democratic National Convention will take place right up the street in Chi-town. It will close on the evening of Thursday, August 22nd. And with its closing, will begin the American presidential race in earnest. This means that most everything you have seen or heard prior to the end of both conventions has been and will be mostly postering and rhetoric.
Now the race will remain intense for roughly eleven weeks until it culminates on election day, Tuesday, November 5th. So, strap in, buckle up, hang on and …… vote.
Lastly, based on the comments we received; last month’s newsletter really resonated. It seems that we received kudos from three sets of our population. From those that identified as the “cans” in Americans, the existentialists and the fans of Miguel de Cervantes, (Who knew we had those?). Regardless of how they come in and from whom, thank you.
As always, we appreciate the fact that you took the time to read our content and to stay abreast of the all the “doings” of the various Local 697 Benefit Funds, and on occasion, other significant aspects of our lives.
We trust that this month’s newsletter lives up to your expectations.
Stay well,
Patrick Keenan
