A. Part A is In Patient Hospitalization

Part B is Medical, Durable Medical Equipment, Home Health Care

Q. Which parts do I need to apply for?

A. You need to apply for Part A & Part B.  To be covered under Class 3 Retiree Benefits you must be enrolled in both Parts.  The same rule applies to your spouse.  If you decline Part B, this Plan will not cover any charges that would have been payable under Part B.

Q. Do I need to apply for Part D Prescription Coverage?

A. This Plan requires Medicare – eligible participants and spouse to choose between this Plan’s coverage (SavRx) or a Medicare Part D Plan. You cannot have both prescription drug coverage’s.  

Q. Is our SavRx Plan better than Part D?

A. The Local 697 Plan has determined that its prescription coverage thru SavRx is, on average for all Plan participants, expected to pay out as much as the standard Medicare Part D coverage will pay.
